Don’t I need sweat glands?
Microwave Technology is a safe and effective treatment for excessive underarm sweating. Only 2 percent of the 4 million sweat glands in the human body are found in the underarms, and treating these sweat glands with Microwave Technology does not adversely affect the body’s ability to cool itself.

How does it work?
The area to be treated will be marked and numbed. The Microwave Technology handpiece is then placed on the area.
Once the handpiece is activated, you will feel suction from the vacuum as your skin and sweat glands are brought closer to the surface for optimal results. The thermal energy is delivered to the skin and permanently eliminates sweat and odour glands in a non-invasive way. Eliminated sweat glands will not grow back, resulting in a dramatic and lasting reduction of underarm sweat.
For added patient comfort during Microwave Technology treatment, we also use a cooling system to minimise any potential discomfort that you may face.
How does the Miradry treatment differ from other available treatments for excessive sweating?
The non-invasive Microwave Technology treatment results in a noticeable, drastic reduction of underarm sweat without the pain, risk and recovery time. Other tried and tested treatments for reduction in perspiration include botulinum toxin injections to treat excessive sweating. However, botulinum toxin injections require periodic repeat treatments to maintain results.
How long does each treatment take?
Each Microwave Technology treatment session lasts for approximately 2 hours including preparation and numbing.
Is there any pain or downtime?
There is minimal to no recovery time involved in Microwave Technology treatments. Patients can resume their normal activities on the same day and can resume exercising within the next few days.
Are there any side effects?
Some localised soreness or swelling can be expected, and typically clears up within a few weeks.
What results should I expect?
Patients will see a reduction in sweat immediately after the first treatment, and expect to achieve an average underarm sweat reduction of 82 percent and an average body odour reduction of 93%. As with any aesthetic treatment, results will vary for each patient.
How many treatments will I need?
You will be able to see results in as little as one treatment. However, as with any aesthetic treatment, the doctor will determine the best protocol for your desired results.
