NON-INVASIVE FAT REDUCTION WITH LIPOSONIX
Liposonix is a non-invasive FDA-approved treatment that uses high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) technology to permanently destroy targeted unwanted fat.
Liposonix targets the stubborn fat around your waistline (abdomen and love handles), which is effective for circumferential waist reduction, resulting in a slimmer, more contoured waistline. A non-invasive lunch time procedure, many patients are typically able to resume normal activities immediately after treatment.
Who is suited for this treatment?
Liposonix treatment is suitable for people who maintain a healthy weight yet struggles with localised fat (lumps, bumps and bulges) that they just cannot get rid of no matter how much they exercise or diet. Ideal candidates are those who are able to “pinch-an inch” (2.5cm) of fat in the treatment area and have a body mass index (BMI) equal to or less than 30. They are seeking a slimmer waistline and a reduction of one pant size but are not considering a surgical procedure. Liposonix treatment is not a weight loss solution and it is not a substitute for invasive methods such as liposuction.
How does it work?
The Liposonix treatment uses high-intensity focused ultrasound energy to non-invasively destroy targeted subcutaneous fat. HIFU relies on the fact that, above a threshold of 56 degree C (for > 1 second), irreversible cell death occurs. The heat from the ultrasound produces a dual tissue response within the treatment area, resulting in permanent destruction of targeted fat cells and contraction of surrounding collagen. The Liposonix treatment does not harm surrounding skin, tissue or organs. The body naturally removes the destroyed fat from the treatment area, which may leave you with a thinner, more contoured waistline.
Areas on where you can do
Any areas with localised fat that can be “pinched an inch” (2.5cm) will respond to liposonix treatment. The common areas are the “muffin top”, post pregnancy pooch, love handles for men, back fat for women, saddle bags and fat on the arms and thighs.
How long does each treatment take?
Liposonix treatment usually takes an hour. You can do the procedure during your lunch break.
Step 1: The ultrasound transducer is placed on the area to be treated.
Step 2: High-intensity ultrasound energy focuses on the targeted fat, destroying fat cells beneath the surface layers of the skin.
Step 3: Continuous lines of disrupted tissue is created at the treated area and the skin layer is not harmed.
Step 4: The treated fat tissue is removed through the body’s natural healing and elimination process, leaving you with a thinner and more contoured waistline.
Is there any pain or downtime?
During treatment, you may feel discomfort, cold, prickling, pulling, tingling or warmth. After treatment, there may be some discomfort (pain), bruising, redness, and swelling, which are generally described as mild.
What results should I expect?
You will start to see results in 8-12 weeks which is the time the body removes the destroyed fat tissue through its natural process.
How long do the results last?
The Liposonix treatment results are lasting and cumulative. Once the fat cells are eliminated in a specific area they will not come back there. As long as you maintain your weight with diet and exercise, your long-term results should remain stable.
