HIFU FACE

SKIN TIGHTENING WITH HIFU FACE

This is a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure for the face that uses ultrasound energy to lift, and tighten loose skin. The FDA-cleared device used in the procedure stimulates the deep structural support layers of the skin—including those typically addressed in a surgical facelift—without disturbing the surface of the skin.

It relies on ultrasound therapy to deliver its collagen-boosting treatment. It also incorporates traditional ultrasound imaging, which allows practitioners to see the layers of tissue they are treating, ensuring the treatment energy is delivered to where it will be most beneficial.

Who is suited for this treatment?

A good candidate is someone with some degree of laxity, to the point of looking, and often feeling, less firm. Loose skin under the neck and under the chin, or lines and wrinkles on the chest, are signals a patient might be a candidate. Typically, those in their 30s and older who have mild to moderate skin laxity are candidates. While it is not a replacement for a surgical facelift, there are many people who want some facial lifting but are not ready for surgery, whether mentally, physically or financially. There also are younger people who want to “stay ahead of the game,” as well as patients wanting an aesthetic maintenance option.

Areas on where you can do

HIFU Face can be done on the following areas:

  • Face
  • Brows
  • Eyes
  • Neck
  • Chest
  • Decolletage

How does it work?

The procedure stimulates collagen production by delivering focused ultrasound energy to the skin’s foundational layer typically addressed in cosmetic surgery—without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin.

High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound tightens skin gradually from the inside out—without surgery or downtime

Unlike lasers, radio frequency, surgery and other technologies, it bypasses the surface of the skin to deliver the right amount of ultrasound energy at the right depths and the right temperature. This energy triggers a natural response under the skin, jumpstarting the regenerative process that produces fresh, new collagen.

How long does each treatment take?

After cleansing the skin and identifying the specific areas to be treated, the doctor will apply the ultrasound gel and place the smooth treatment applicator against your skin. An image of the tissue beneath is projected on a screen. This allows your practitioner to “see” deep within the skin to determine optimal placement of the treatment energy, and then deliver the focused ultrasound energy beneath the skin’s surface.

During the treatment delivery, you will feel tiny amounts of energy being deposited to precise depths, indicating that the collagen-building process has been initiated.

Comfort levels can vary from person to person, but the sensation only lasts while the energy is being delivered.

The length of your treatment will depend on the area being treated and your individual treatment plan. A face* and neck procedure typically takes 60-90 minutes, while a chest treatment takes approximately 30 minutes.

Is there any pain or downtime?

Comfort levels vary from patient to patient and can depend on the area treated as well. Your practitioner will discuss options for making the experience as pleasant as possible. The sensation you experience is associated with the focused ultrasound energy as it is deposited below the surface of the skin. It is noticeable just while the energy is being delivered and patients typically leave comfortable and excited about the benefits to come.

Are there any side effects?

There is no downtime. You can return to your normal activities immediately after your procedure without any post-treatment restrictions or requirements.
Your skin might appear flushed at first, but the redness should disappear within a few hours. Some patients experience slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to the touch, but these are mild and temporary in nature.

What results should I expect?

Some patients see an initial effect right after their treatment, but the real results appear over 2−3 months* as new collagen works to lift and tighten skin on the neck, chin and brow as well as smooth skin on the chest. While the treatment won’t duplicate the results of a facelift, it’s a clinically proven non-invasive alternative for those not ready for surgery—and can even be an option for patients who wish to extend the effects of cosmetic surgery.

Since the procedure stimulates a person’s own collagen production, how long the results last depends on the individual. The treatment produces new collagen on the inside, but the individual’s natural aging process will dictate how long that translates into visible results on the outside. Future touch-up treatments can help provide more control over the aging process, which varies by individual.

How many treatments will I need?

The majority of patients only need one treatment; however, some may benefit from more than one treatment, depending on how much skin laxity they have and their body’s own biological response to the ultrasound and the collagen-building process.

How Is The Technology Different From Other Tightening Procedures?

This is a non-invasive treatment that can specifically target the deep foundation below the skin that is addressed in cosmetic surgery without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin. It uses ultrasound imaging, which allows us to actually see the layers of tissue we target during treatment and ensure the energy is deposited precisely to where it will be most effective.

HOW DO THE RESULTS COMPARE TO THOSE OF OTHER TREATMENTS?

This treatment is an “uplift” not a “face lift.” While it is not a replacement for surgery, it is a viable option for those not ready for a face lift or those looking to prolong the effects of cosmetic surgery.
