DERMAL FILLERS

DERMAL FILLERS

Dermal Fillers as the name explains, are small injections of gel, typically made up of hylauronic acid, that fill in wrinkles and add volume to soft tissue. Hylauronic acid is a natural substance in the skin that delivers nutrients, helps the skin retain moisture, softness and volume. The results are subtle and long lasting.

Areas where Dermal Fillers can be injected:

Dermal fillers can be done on different parts of your face. It can help to lift cheeks, smooth parentheses lines, smooth vertical lip lines or plump the lips and be injected into earlobes to help stimulate the collagen in the area, restoring a more youthful, less shrivelled lobe. This is popular especially among patients who love to wear mega-sized earrings or who’ve had significant sun exposure.

How does it work?

Fillers basically restore lost volume to your face and plump areas, so that deep set lines are smoothed.

As we age, our bodies stop producing collagen and elastin, hence we lose the support structure of our face, resulting in loss of volume, deep wrinkle issues and looking tired.

Using MD Codes, a specific technique developed by renowned plastic surgeon, Dr. Mauricio de Maio and practiced by Dr. Calvin Chan, it’s possible to target the underlying cause of aging that can mar facial expressions as we age. These targeted injection points help treat sagging skin, loss of volume and deep wrinkle issues, giving patients back a refreshed, happy, relaxed and youthful appearance.

What brand of fillers do you use at your clinic?

At Calvin Chan Aesthetic & Laser Clinic, we use Juvederm collection of fillers. Each product in the Juvederm collection of fillers is made from a modified form of HA.

How many syringes will I need?

This depends on your areas of concern.

How long does each treatment take?

Each treatment will take approximately 30 mins, excluding numbing.

Is there any pain or downtime?

There may be a slight discomfort whilst the filler is being injected into the face. To provide further relief and alleviate as much pain as possible, our fillers contain a pre-mixed local anaesthetic. You can also request for a topical numbing cream or ice to help further minimize discomfort.

What results should I expect?

You may start to see results almost immediately.

How long do dermal fillers last?

It depends how your body reacts and which hyaluronic acid is used, but most dermal fillers will last between six to 18 months.

Are there any side effects with dermal fillers?

It’s completely normal to experience a little bit of discomfort, redness and bruising after the procedure. Reactions generally occur immediately after the needle injection and can include; redness, swelling, pain, itching, bruising and tenderness at the injection location. These reactions are generally mild to moderate and usually disappear shortly after injection and are usually resolved a few days after the injection into the skin.

Is there a difference between Botulinum Toxins and dermal filler?

Yes there is 100% a difference between Botulinum Toxins and dermal filler. Botulinum Toxins stops the small muscles in your face from making the movements that cause wrinkles, whilst dermal fillers plump from below the wrinkle to smooth them out and promote the youthful look.
